Study on chip formation in grinding of nickel-based polycrystalline superalloy GH4169

Based on the variation of actual cutting depth during grinding process, a 3D finite element simulation model for nickel-based superalloy GH4169 with single abrasive was initially constructed. Then, morphological evolution chips process studied. In addition, effect and speed chip morphology segmentation frequency were investigated. Finally, experimental results same test parameters verify results. The showed that in range, sawtooth lamellar free surface being serrated contact smooth due to extrusion are easy produce when GH4169. As increases, changes from unitary continuous chip, developing into ribbon chip. is mainly determined by speed. To be specific, smaller greater speed, formation frequency.
